Job Description:


#Ensures the health and safety of employees, through the planning, management and implementation of projects, processes, equipment and facilities in compliance with ISO and OHSAS standards.

#Directs the Maintenance departments' safety, and house keeping procedures, promotes and ensures compliance. Implements and maintains the Environmental Management System in accordance with Company’s objectives.

#Directs and monitors improvements to Plant Maintenances systems, processes and policies in support of AMPL's strategic and business objectives - specifically, supports better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning aimed at increasing the Plants availability.

#Directs and manages Plant wide Maintenance activities to ensure delivery in accordance with the stated plants availability objectives.

#Plays a significant role in long-term planning, with the view to delivering preventive maintenance objectives. Promotes adherence to all applicable policies and procedures in accordance with the Company’s objectives.

#Develops new strategies to enhance overall Plant availability. Reviews all maintenance projects to identify areas of improvement and monitor implementation of action plans and remedial or corrective actions.

#Develops and fosters effective collaboration between all operational departments, staff leadership, units and other affiliated services (inside and outside of AMPL) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling the organization's Maintenance objectives.

#Oversees all major workforce and resource requirements for departments. Reviews submitted technical data and reports.

#Works with the management team and leadership, serving as a resource to help reduce maintenance costs, and achieve effective utilization goals and objectives, analyzes and utilizes information to develop and support management decisions.

#Presents an annual Maintenance budget in consultation with all heads of operating plants and prudently manages resources within approved budget guidelines.

#Ensures communication of budgets allocated to respective operational departmental heads.

#Reviews various maintenance procedures and practices and recommends corrective action where necessary.

#Confers with all operations departments and reviews activities and/or operations to determine required changes in various maintenance programmes to maximize plant availability.

#Oversees and monitors the processes and systems for ordering and acquisition of spares for equipment and machinery.

#Ensures the existence of proper systems for maintenance and repair of equipment. Ensures the development, implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management Systems in accordance with the Company’s objectives.

#Manages the utilities portfolio -including management of various supply agreements and management of the internal infrastructure and controls for delivery of various utilities to all plants and other facilities.

#Oversees the promotion of relevant developmental programmes and initiatives for exempt operational personnel and equivalent developmental activities and initiatives for subordinates in conjunction with the T&D team.

#Supports and promotes company-wide management initiatives aimed at reducing or eliminating employee absenteeism and minimizing overtime. Contributes to the continuous improvement of related processes and systems.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering but a Masters is preferred

• Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a senior management role for 15+ years in a manufacturing organization with progressive experience leading to at least three years experience in operational management inclusive of people management.

• Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal would be assets.
